From the artist:

I’m sad that this submission is digital. As I’m sure many other artists have said, these works need to be seen in person for the proper impact. These digital files are poor representations, and not the intended viewing medium. These pieces are all printed on matte paper, with UV inks, 20”x30”, displayed in frames without glass. Without any glare, they create the powerful illusion that the viewer is present in the storm.

These pieces were booked to be exhibited in a local gallery from April 3-27, but our provincial government closed all galleries and museums as part of the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Here’s the original show description:

“Moments of importance, like small sparks in a great storm, illuminate and give reference to the size and shape of a person's life. Though brief, the thunder of these moments echo through our lives and define the storm we greet - or run from.

In this series, we explore the connection between the instances of excitement and fear in a thunderstorm and the rites of passage one encounters through life's finite journey. These moments impact us, change us and determine how we define ourselves.”
