The Void by Carly Z [Official Musical Video]

Galway, IRELAND - The entire time I was creating this post, I was listening to Carly Z’s song The Void. I am OBSESSED. Originally from Dallas, Texas, but now based in Ireland, singer-songwriter Carly Z released this video and an entire album days before isolation began worldwide. Keep reading to see what Carly Z has to say about the work she put into this piece, and the eventual release of the video and album.

From the submission:

“The Void is the lead single from my debut album, which is called The Work. This song and video is a devastatingly honest journey into an American mind, inspired as much by modern literature and visual art as by music. Asking meaningful questions posed by writers like James Baldwin and Shelby Steele in a fresh voice, The Void is a lyrical and incisive reckoning with a human heart and a homeland lost.

This video went live three days before Ireland went into lockdown due to COVID-19. The album this song is featured on came out the day before lockdown, all after working on the project for 2.5 years. Due to the uncertainty and confusion, the video and album couldn't gain the traction they might have otherwise, and I've so far received no compensation from this work.”

This music is COOL, and the video is gorgeous! Take a look for yourself!

The video for The Void was filmed in Moycullen, Galway, Ireland.
