Jocelyn Mah

Calgary, CANADA -A collaboration between dancer/choreographer Jocelyn Mah and soprano Brittany Rae, Fantasma is set to an excerpt of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor, and portrays a woman’s raw state of grief.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Hailing from Calgary, Canada, Jocelyn Mah first studied as a classical pianist. Jocelyn is a graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and has recently completed her MA in Contemporary Dance at The London Contemporary Dance School (London, UK). Jocelyn was awarded the inaugural Winchester Prize for Choreography, and her work has been presented at numerous Canadian festivals, including August, Augusta at The SummerWorks Performance Festival, and Five Taken at Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend. Her work is inspired by feminism, and the marriage between music and dance, particularly in authentic and vernacular jazz.
