Radio Play: “Begotten”

Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - In years gone by, radio was the main source of entertainment as well as news. Listeners during difficult periods were informed by and connected through listening to radio. The pandemic feels like a good time to bring radio back into our homes. Watch the trailer for “Begotten,” then listen to the entire show at https://minolatheatre.com.au/begotten/

From the submission: “Begotten” is the 100-year history of a family, told through the eyes of five women. In Alice, Eileen, Clea, Hazel and Laoise, we see dignities lost and claimed, hearts shattered and mended, and the thread of feminine soul passed down through five generations.

BEGOTTEN is a new piece of writing from award winning playwright Bianca Butler Reynolds, initially developed for a performance season at Backdock Arts in Brisbane in April/ May 2020. Due to the shut down of theatres in Australia, Minola Theatre has redeveloped this one-woman show into an audio experience. Stories have always been there for us in dark times, and Minola Theatre is proud to contribute to that wonderful tradition now.

BEGOTTEN (the radio play) is produced by Minola Theatre, written and performed by Bianca Butler Reynolds, directed by Kat Dekker, and with post production sound by Siobhan Finniss.
