‘Aqueous’, a Solo Exhibition by Kelly Corbett

Nanoose Bay, BC, CANADA - We know a lot of people are missing nature right now, so take a look at these beautiful creations by Canadian artist Kelly Corbett! Kelly’s stunning solo exhibition ‘Aqueous’ was supposed to be open from May 1 - June 15 at the Peachland Public Art Gallery in Peachland, BC but this gallery has closed it’s door’s due to social distancing.

From the submission:

Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All plants and animals must have water to survive. It is undeniable that spending time near natural bodies of water instills a feeling of calmness and ease of mind. There is something about witnessing free-flowing bodies of water shifting in their natural course that is comforting, and in some way connects us to the bigger, universal picture. Water is, quite literally, part of what makes us who we are and acknowledging the impact that is has on our wellbeing allows for a greater understanding of exactly why we are so drawn to it.

Artist Statement: As a realist painter my motivation is to share my visual experiences. To create paintings that speak both to me and to others about the beauty that exists in British Columbia. My style invites the viewer to recall their own past adventures and relive the sights and scents of BC’s natural environment. Through my artwork I try to bring the outside in, to pay tribute the natural world and remind us how rewarding it can be to take the time to reconnect with nature.

All of Kelly’s works seen below are acrylic on canvas. For more information about the artist and to see more of her work, visit her official website or follow her on social media!
