IT Dansa presents “Whim” from home

Barcelona, SPAIN - This one is pretty awesome. It shows us what can be done with existing pieces of dance even when we are all distanced apart. It’s invigorating, whimsical, and wondrous and set against the backdrop of one of the most magical cities in the world.

With the rest of their tour around Europe cancelled for the year, the dancers of IT Dansa (the Young Dance Company of the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona) continue to dance from home, in the distance, and despite the confinement imposed by COVID-19. They do so with the same vigour and joy as seen in this excerpt from on of their pieces “Whim (Fractured Fairytale)” by the world renowned choreographer Alexander Ekman and set to music by Vivaldi.

IT Dansa is a pedagogical project created in 1996 as part of the Theatre Institute of Barcelona

as a post-graduate course to improve the training of young dancers.

The company has premiered more than 30 choreographies by renowned artists and performed over 300 shows around the world.
