LITHUANIA

We received this submission from Ernesta Žemaitytė, a pantomime artist from Lithuania!

Despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child, Ernesta has become one of the first women in Lithuania to create and perform original solo pantomime stories and dances, and has been performing for over 15 years with various groups of artists with disabilities. Ernesta uses pantomime not only to express herself but also as a powerful way to heal and cope with her cerebral palsy.

Due to the recent spread of COVID-19 in Europe, Ernesta has had performances cancelled at theatre festivals in Lithuania, Poland and France. She is eager to get back to performing! This project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Check out the video Ernesta’s piece called “Birth Myth”!

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Ernesta! We hope you get to perform again soon!
